Score: Pequena Fantasia para Clarinete Solo

Pequena Fantasia (Little Fantasy) is a music piece that presents the clarinet’s expressive capacity compressed in a short sonic structure which is a little more than two minutes long. The composition develops a sound arch with a material composed on the limits of a serie, that starts in a low register and increase more and more through interval degrees, rhythmic impulses and repetitions, achieving for a short instant the high register of the clarinet and so returning.

If this Little Fantasy was able to prove something, it could be said that the apparent limitations, the circularity and the coldness of a dodecafonic serie don’t impede the composer from creating melodic structures full of expressive force that require a certain virtuosistic attitude from the performer, either by prolixity, or brevity as in this piece.
